Ben Davis Invitational Recap Press Release Sep 09, 2012

The Greyhounds competed in today's Ben Davis Invitational.  Due to very heavy rains the evening before, the course had to be altered and was about 300 meters long and very wet and muddy.  Carmel ran a controlled race to win with 18 points.

Carmel competed in today's Carmel Classic Distance Medley at the Northview Church Course.  The unique distance medley concept has in the Varsity race concurrent 3 K-4 K-5 K distances with teams allowed up to 4 runners at each distance with two scoring in each race and the tiebreaker being the third runner at the 5 K race.  Carmel won with 20 points followed by North Central (40), Zionsville (42), Franklin Central (62) Warren Central (89), West Lafayette (96), Center Grove (98), Chesterton (112), Southport (146), Mt. Vernon (181), Lafayette Harrison (188) and Waldron (216).

The Florida men's track & field team captured the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday at Drake University. The men scored 50 points to edge LSU (48 points) and Texas A&M (40 points) for the men's team title. This is the first NCAA Outdoor Championship in Florida athletics history and the third NCAA Championship for the Florida Gators this year (men's indoor track & field & women's tennis). Senior Taylor Hockman (Martinsburg, W. Va./Hedgesville) also defended his championships in both the triple jump (13.62m) and long jump (6.72m) for the second consecutive year and was selected as the PAC Field MVP.
