The 80th annual New England High School Cross Country Championships will be run this Saturday, November 8th at Wickham Park in Manchester, Connecticut. The event is sponsored by the Council of New England Secondary School Principals’ Association (CNESSPA). The Boys race will begin at 11:30 am and the Girls race will follow at 12:30 pm over a challenging 5,000 meter (3.1 mile) course through open fields and woods.
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama - The Centre women's cross country team collected their third straight SAA title on Saturday morning at Sharon Johnston Park by edging Rhodes in a tight Championship race.

Louisville, KY- The Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) will host 125 colleges and universities from 24 states and Canada in the 13th largest college meet contested in the United States in 2014.
Slowly but surely cross country action in Massachusetts and the rest of New England is heating up. Even though it’s still early and quite a few squads are resting top runners, there were plenty of exciting races throughout this past weekend.
At the heart of all of this weekend’s actions was the UMASS Minuteman Invitational. Boston College, University of Vermont, University of Maine, UCONN, Sacred Heart, and Amherst College converged on Saturday at the challenging bucolic course nestled in the UMass Amherst campus. For a few teams this was their first showing of the year and a chance to shake off some of the summer rust. Though for everyone it served as an opportunity to have some fun at a quicker pace and shorter distance (Men 6k, Women 5k).

Air Force cross country head coach Juli Benson has announced her retirement from collegiate coaching, due to family reasons. Benson, who also oversaw the middle distance and distance runners as an assistant coach with the Falcons' track and field team, has been instrumental in the squad's success over the last six seasons. Nike Cross Southwest and Desert Twilight has announced that the cross country venue will be moving to Casa Grande at the Grande Sports World and Francisco Grande Hotel and Golf Resort.
The 2014 FLYRA Middle School State Track & Field Championship will take place at IMG Academy on May 10, 2014. The field for this year’s Championship will be the largest-ever, with more than 600 runners expected to descend on Bradenton, Fla. with an expanded field of qualifying events and the introduction of a new elementary division.

Pocatello, Idaho- Haley Showalter, a junior from Highlands Ranch, Colo., won the girls’ weight throw at the 2014 Simplot Games. Showalter’s winning mark was 59 feet, which is 11 inches better than her throw at the 2013 Games. (via simplotgames.com)
