Cross Country Preview: Boys Individual Preview Aug 21, 2012

   August 20th marked the official start of the Cross Country practice season in the state of Rhode Island.  All of the summer miles will start to pay off as many athletes return to their respective schools for the fall.  MilesplitRI has taken the task of previewing both the Boys and the Girls competition for this coming year. Today we will be focusing on the boys individual competition.

My trip to New Balance Nationals began with another long car ride. I headed to North Carolina on Wednesday morning. We stayed with one of my mom’s friends, who we also stayed with when I go to Foot Locker South.

The distance didn’t seem to deter any of them from traveling, competing, and then dominating. For a part of the country that makes up a small fraction of its population, the damage it did was significant. The Smiths Station TC competed Friday in the 1000m Swedish Medley at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals winning the event.  2012 is the first year the event has been competed at NBON.
