Huisman Finishes As Top American In Shot Put At Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - Josh Huisman did it again.

For the second straight year, the throwing star from St. Rose came up big on the biggest stage when he placed second overall and first among American finishers in the shot put when he unloaded a 64-8.50 at the 128th Penn Relays on Friday at Franklin Field.

The Michigan-bound Huisman already had second place locked up when he launched his 64-8.50 on his final attempt.  Huisman, who owns a 67-7 PR from when he captured the Meet of Champions indoor title in March, also launched a throw of 63-3.50. Shaiquan Dunn of Jamaica College won the event with a throw of 68-0.25.

"I fell a little short of first-place, but it'll keep me hungry for the rest of the season,'' said Huisman. "It's an honor to compete here again and getting second at a meet like the Penn Relays is a great accomplishment. I'll keep working hard toward my goal of trying to hit 70 feet this season. It's a big goal, but I'm going to train as hard as I can to try to get it.''
