Peachtree Ridge Summary
123 Points. That might be a pretty good cross country team score in any large invitational. But it was the collective team score from Peachtree Ridge this weekend down in Jacksonville, Florida. The Georgians came down and swept all races.
The JV Girls started things off with a perfect outing of 15 points and a 21:48 team average, headed up by a win from sophomore Kate Watkins in 21:07.
Next up the JV boys tried their best to match their female counterparts and almost did. Junior Michael Armstrong won the race in 17:30 and only a single third place runner from Mandarin High School interupted their five pack. They won with 18 points and a 17:48 average.
Addy Lippitt notched a second place finish, behind undefeated Florida phenom Karen Xiang, for 18:52 and two points in the Girls Varsity race. The squad managed 52 points for the win, 15 better than Bolles--the top Jacksonville area girls program--and a 20:00 average.
Not to be outdone, senior Kevin Mills took the overall victory by a commanding 36 seconds with a 15:37 finish. Isaac Penman was two places behind in 16:17. That helped give Ridge an impressive four-peat on the day with just 38 points to St. Augustine's 95. The team average of 16:31 was impressive. Perhaps more impressive was the fact that they put seven across 11 places before any other team managed five. Depth!
